According to recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in August 2003, the United States not seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers (CPI-U): Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue WA was 194.4 and the 12-month percent change (inflation rate) was 4.1%. The following item categories had the highest not seasonally adjusted 12-month percent change in CPI-U:

  1. Motor fuel: 18.8%
  2. Food at home: 5.7%
  3. Food away from home: 4%
