According to recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in January 2009, the United States not seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers (CPI-U): South - Size Class B/C was 129.615 and the 12-month percent change (inflation rate) was -0.2%. The following item categories had the highest not seasonally adjusted 12-month percent change in CPI-U:

  1. Household energy: 9.8%
  2. Food at home: 6.4%
  3. Food away from home: 5.4%
