According to recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in October 2009, the United States not seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers (CPI-U): South - Size Class D was 212.423 and the 12-month percent change (inflation rate) was -0.3%. The following item categories had the highest not seasonally adjusted 12-month percent change in CPI-U:

  1. Alcoholic beverages: 2.2%
  2. Food away from home: 1.4%
  3. Rent of primary residence: 0.8%
