According to recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in December 2007, the United States not seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers (CPI-U): Washington-Baltimore, DC-MD-VA-WV was 206.424 and the 12-month percent change (inflation rate) was 28.0%. The following item categories had the highest not seasonally adjusted 12-month percent change in CPI-U:

Motor fuel: 29.5%
Household energy: 26.5%
Food at home: 4.3%
