According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Construction industry (not seasonally adjusted) in January, 2009:

  1. Alaska: -1,800
  2. North Dakota: -2,600
  3. Arkansas: -2,900

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Construction industry (not seasonally adjusted) in January, 2009:

  1. California: -49,100
  2. New York: -35,000
  3. Illinois: -33,300
