According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Federal Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2002:

  1. New Mexico: 800
  2. Florida: 700
  3. Arizona: 500

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Federal Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2002:

  1. District of Columbia: -2,500
  2. Texas: -1,300
  3. California: -1,200
