According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Federal Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in June, 2002:

  1. District of Columbia: 2,900
  2. California: 2,600
  3. Maryland: 2,100

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Federal Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in June, 2002:

  1. Pennsylvania: -200
  2. Rhode Island: 0
  3. Vermont: 100
