According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Federal Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2004:

  1. Arizona: 1,000
  2. New Mexico: 700
  3. Georgia: 400

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Federal Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2004:

  1. District of Columbia: -1,300
  2. Pennsylvania: -600
  3. Illinois: -500
