According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Federal Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2004:

  1. Florida: 500
  2. Tennessee: 500
  3. Missouri: 400

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Federal Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2004:

  1. Virginia: -1,200
  2. Montana: -800
  3. Idaho: -700
