According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Federal Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in July, 2007:

  1. District of Columbia: 1,000
  2. California: 900
  3. Maryland: 700

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Federal Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in July, 2007:

  1. New Jersey: -2,200
  2. New Mexico: -900
  3. Georgia: -600
