According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Federal Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in July, 2008:

  1. District of Columbia: 1,800
  2. Maryland: 1,400
  3. Florida: 1,300

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Federal Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in July, 2008:

  1. New Mexico: -700
  2. Missouri: -600
  3. North Dakota: -200
