According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Federal Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2011:

  1. Maryland: 700
  2. New Mexico: 200
  3. Arizona: 100

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Federal Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2011:

  1. California: -1,700
  2. District of Columbia: -1,400
  3. Georgia: -1,300
