- California: 38,800
- New York: 20,900
- Florida: 15,900
On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Federal Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2020:
- Idaho: -300
- Maine: 300
- North Dakota: 600
