According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Goods Producing industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2004:

  1. Michigan: 44,700
  2. California: 11,300
  3. Missouri: 9,200

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Goods Producing industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2004:

  1. Iowa: -2,400
  2. Alaska: -2,400
  3. Louisiana: -2,100
