According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Goods Producing industry (not seasonally adjusted) in January, 2004:

  1. Alaska: 3,000
  2. District of Columbia: -600
  3. Hawaii: -900

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Goods Producing industry (not seasonally adjusted) in January, 2004:

  1. New York: -44,500
  2. California: -43,300
  3. Illinois: -42,400
