According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Goods Producing industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2006:

  1. Michigan: 34,200
  2. California: 16,800
  3. Texas: 9,500

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Goods Producing industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2006:

  1. Alaska: -1,800
  2. Arizona: -800
  3. Iowa: -500
