According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2002:

  1. Florida: 83,900
  2. North Carolina: 34,000
  3. Texas: 25,700

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2002:

  1. New York: -22,100
  2. California: -16,900
  3. Washington: -13,200
