According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in May, 2002:

  1. West Virginia: 10,800
  2. Texas: 10,500
  3. New York: 8,300

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in May, 2002:

  1. Arizona: -5,800
  2. Pennsylvania: -5,300
  3. Tennessee: -4,200
