According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in November, 2002:

  1. New York: 16,900
  2. California: 16,300
  3. Washington: 9,300

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in November, 2002:

  1. North Carolina: -2,500
  2. Alaska: 0
  3. Wyoming: 100
