According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in October, 2002:

  1. California: 58,900
  2. New York: 43,900
  3. Texas: 39,300

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in October, 2002:

  1. District of Columbia: -2,700
  2. Massachusetts: -900
  3. New Mexico: 100
