According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in January, 2003:

  1. Utah: -300
  2. Rhode Island: -400
  3. Vermont: -1,300

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in January, 2003:

  1. New York: -39,400
  2. Illinois: -28,200
  3. California: -23,800
