According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in April, 2004:

  1. Georgia: 6,200
  2. California: 5,300
  3. Kansas: 2,800

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in April, 2004:

  1. Texas: -5,300
  2. New York: -3,600
  3. Michigan: -2,900
