According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in March, 2004:

  1. California: 17,900
  2. New York: 6,900
  3. Maryland: 5,100

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in March, 2004:

  1. Tennessee: -12,000
  2. Vermont: 0
  3. Minnesota: 0
