According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2004:

  1. Texas: 79,800
  2. Michigan: 75,500
  3. California: 67,000

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2004:

  1. District of Columbia: -7,600
  2. Hawaii: 2,100
  3. Wyoming: 3,300
