According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2005:

  1. Florida: 81,900
  2. North Carolina: 53,800
  3. Georgia: 30,800

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2005:

  1. New York: -20,400
  2. Washington: -14,000
  3. New Jersey: -10,400
