According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2006:

  1. Florida: 87,700
  2. North Carolina: 54,900
  3. Texas: 31,100

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2006:

  1. New York: -21,500
  2. California: -13,800
  3. Washington: -12,500
