According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in January, 2006:

  1. Connecticut: 1,700
  2. Mississippi: -200
  3. Rhode Island: -500

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in January, 2006:

  1. New York: -35,200
  2. Illinois: -22,100
  3. Michigan: -21,200
