According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in April, 2007:

  1. California: 3,700
  2. Kentucky: 2,900
  3. Illinois: 2,600

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in April, 2007:

  1. Michigan: -8,700
  2. Louisiana: -5,700
  3. Hawaii: -5,000
