According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2007:

  1. Florida: 88,300
  2. North Carolina: 59,900
  3. Indiana: 28,500

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2007:

  1. New York: -16,300
  2. California: -14,200
  3. New Jersey: -6,900
