According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in July, 2008:

  1. District of Columbia: 14,600
  2. Florida: -900
  3. Delaware: -1,200

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in July, 2008:

  1. California: -148,800
  2. North Carolina: -76,800
  3. Michigan: -48,900
