According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in July, 2008:
- District of Columbia: 14,600
- Florida: -900
- Delaware: -1,200
On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in July, 2008:
- California: -148,800
- North Carolina: -76,800
- Michigan: -48,900
