According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in May, 2008:

  1. California: 9,600
  2. Hawaii: 6,100
  3. Colorado: 5,700

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in May, 2008:

  1. Michigan: -10,200
  2. Florida: -5,900
  3. Connecticut: -3,100
