According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in February, 2009:

  1. New York: 24,400
  2. Illinois: 20,300
  3. California: 19,000

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in February, 2009:

  1. District of Columbia: -100
  2. North Dakota: 1,300
  3. Delaware: 1,500
