According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in October, 2011:

  1. California: 71,500
  2. New York: 38,100
  3. New Jersey: 24,300

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in October, 2011:

  1. District of Columbia: -2,900
  2. Montana: 400
  3. Alaska: 500
