According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in February, 2012:

  1. New York: 33,200
  2. California: 25,900
  3. Illinois: 22,600

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in February, 2012:

  1. District of Columbia: -1,000
  2. Montana: 900
  3. North Dakota: 1,400
