According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in May, 2012:

  1. California: 7,900
  2. Ohio: 6,900
  3. Illinois: 5,200

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in May, 2012:

  1. Michigan: -11,700
  2. Florida: -10,500
  3. Arizona: -6,800
