According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in October, 2012:

  1. California: 68,300
  2. New York: 39,800
  3. New Jersey: 24,300

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in October, 2012:

  1. Alaska: 0
  2. Montana: 700
  3. District of Columbia: 1,300
