According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2016:
- Florida: 73,500
- North Carolina: 51,200
- Indiana: 37,400
On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2016:
- District of Columbia: -13,400
- New York: -11,000
- New Jersey: -9,100
