According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in December, 2016:

  1. Illinois: 6,700
  2. New York: 4,500
  3. Nevada: 1,200

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in December, 2016:

  1. Ohio: -12,000
  2. California: -8,000
  3. Michigan: -7,300
