According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in March, 2016:

  1. California: 27,800
  2. New York: 7,400
  3. North Carolina: 7,400

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in March, 2016:

  1. Georgia: -3,800
  2. Louisiana: -1,000
  3. New Hampshire: -300
