According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2002:

  1. Florida: 81,700
  2. North Carolina: 35,300
  3. Arizona: 25,200

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2002:

  1. New York: -22,000
  2. California: -15,600
  3. Washington: -14,600
