According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in June, 2002:
- Louisiana: 4,400
- Minnesota: 4,300
- Virginia: 4,100
On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in June, 2002:
- Florida: -62,200
- Texas: -32,300
- North Carolina: -28,500
