According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in March, 2002:

  1. California: 18,500
  2. New York: 7,100
  3. Illinois: 6,500

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in March, 2002:

  1. Nevada: -600
  2. North Dakota: -100
  3. Vermont: 0
