According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in October, 2002:

  1. California: 43,900
  2. New York: 42,300
  3. Texas: 25,000

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in October, 2002:

  1. Massachusetts: -1,700
  2. Florida: -1,400
  3. Hawaii: -100
