According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in December, 2003:

  1. New York: 4,500
  2. Indiana: 2,000
  3. Minnesota: 1,900

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in December, 2003:

  1. California: -11,700
  2. Texas: -6,100
  3. Illinois: -2,500
