According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in February, 2003:

  1. Texas: 24,000
  2. New York: 19,000
  3. Illinois: 14,600

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in February, 2003:

  1. Massachusetts: -300
  2. Connecticut: -200
  3. Hawaii: -100
