According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in January, 2003:

  1. Louisiana: 800
  2. Georgia: 500
  3. Connecticut: 200

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in January, 2003:

  1. New York: -31,700
  2. Texas: -20,800
  3. California: -16,500
