According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in April, 2004:

  1. California: 3,000
  2. Kansas: 2,900
  3. Georgia: 2,600

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in April, 2004:

  1. Michigan: -4,300
  2. Florida: -2,800
  3. North Carolina: -2,600
