According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2004:

  1. California: 61,700
  2. Michigan: 61,400
  3. Texas: 60,600

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in September, 2004:

  1. Hawaii: -1,000
  2. Virginia: 1,300
  3. Florida: 1,800
