According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2005:

  1. Florida: 84,100
  2. North Carolina: 55,100
  3. Georgia: 27,500

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in August, 2005:

  1. New York: -21,100
  2. Washington: -16,300
  3. New Jersey: -9,900
