According to data from the US BLS, the following US states added the highest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in October, 2005:

  1. California: 39,100
  2. New York: 31,100
  3. Texas: 17,700

On the other hand, the following states added the lowest number of jobs to the Local Government industry (not seasonally adjusted) in October, 2005:

  1. Louisiana: -11,900
  2. Hawaii: 200
  3. South Dakota: 300
